From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. In insurance, the insurance policy is a contract (generally a standard form contract) between the insurer and the insured, known as the policyholder, which determines the claims which the insurer is legally required to pay. In exchange for payment, known as the premium, the insurer pays for damages to the insured which are caused by covered perils under the policy language. Insurance contracts are designed to meet specific needs and thus have many features not found in many other types of contracts. Since insurance policies are standard forms, they feature boilerplate language which is similar across a wide variety of different types of insurance policies. The insurance policy is generally an integrated contract, meaning that it includes all forms associated with the agreement between the insured and insurer. In some cases, however, supplementary writings such as letters sent after the final agreement can make the insurance policy a non-integrated contract. One insurance textbook states that "courts consider all prior negotiations or agreements ... every contractual term in the policy at the time of delivery, as well as those written afterwards as policy riders and endorsements ... with both parties' consent, are part of written policy". The textbook also states that the policy must refer to all papers which are part of the policy. Oral agreements are subject to the parol evidence rule, and may not be considered part of the policy. Advertising materials and circulars are typically not part of a policy. Oral contracts pending the issuance of a written policy can occur. From Wikipedia under the

From Google News Search: "insurance policy" insurance question. Can you get a landlord policy instead of the standard home owners policy? Q. I live in my home and own my home. I recieved an excellent quote for a landlord policy rather than homeowners insurance policy. What are the differences of coverage between the two policies and is there any chance of trouble in the future if I choose a landlord policy over a homeowners policy?...Is that legal? I am in Texas the thing I have been truthful and the insurance company has come out and took pictures. They said they could do this legally ...I didn't ask for this policy...I am being begged to switch! Asked by Tarah B - Tue Jun 23 15:17:12 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. Bottom line here is...do you want your contents(i.e., furniture, clothes, bake ware, towels) of your home covered if there is a loss? That's the difference between the two. The Rental dwelling(landlord) policy covers just the building itself and that is it. I hope you don't live in a tornado or hurricane zone of TX...unless you have $$$ put away to repurchase the contents of your home in the event of a total loss. I would not switch if I were you. If your company/agent is begging you to switch...you should look for another company that cares a little more that everything you have is covered at 100%. Good luck! I know nothing about life insurance progams. What is a good insurance policy for funeral and extra money for your family? I'm 47, smoker but could quit, on disability? Term life is great for what it is designed to do (income replacement if you die during your working years) but is not designed to be for funeral expenses. Most people do NOT die young so their term of coverage is over long before they die. For the funeral portion of your coverage, you should do a funeral preplanning policy which is a limited payment (usually 3 to 10 years) increasing benefit life policy. If you buy it through a funeral home, you will have price guarantees from the funeral home over and above the policy limits. You can also buy it from some independnt agents but don't let them confuse you with final expense insurance which is usually a lifetime pay policy with level benefit (no inflation protection.) Q. My mother has an old policy on my father who is deceased. Our insurance agent says that the company which orignally made out the policy no longer exists, and that he is unable to determine the name of the company that bought the policy. My question is:How do I find out which company to contact, that is,if the original company no longer exists and perhaps another company bought it, or the company changed its name, how do I find out its new name and address and other contact information? Asked by timothy - Mon Aug 27 19:13:24 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Well, apparently your MOTHER owns the policy. I don't think that's what you're asking. Your state insurance department can help you track company ownership information, or you can ALSO check out this link here, to find ownership information: https://apps.tdi.state.tx .us/pcci/pcci_search.jsp Answered by mbrcatz - Mon Aug 27 21:15:05 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "insurance policy" |
